Anita Verno, Associate Professor of Information Technology
Anita Verno joined the Information Technology faculty at Bergen Community College in 1999. She served as IT Coordinator/Department Chair from 2000 until 2010.
A founding member of the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) (http://csta.acm.org/), Verno was the elected "College Faculty Representative" to its Board of Directors and served as Curriculum Chair from inception until June 2009. She is currently serving on the CSTA Advisory Council. Verno also assisted in establishing CSTA's Northern New Jersey chapter to serve computing teachers in her home state. She is the College Representative to the CSTA Northern NJ chapter, a former President of the NJ Community College Computer Consortium, a member of the Board of Advisors for NJIT's Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology program, and an Associate Member of the ACM Committee for Computing Education in Community Colleges. Verno's 36 years of professional experience cover software design and development, teaching in IT/CS, and development of curricula/degrees for high schools and colleges. She holds NJ teaching certification in Data Processing and in Elementary Education.
Anita Verno has co-authored numerous papers dedicated to computer education and two computing textbooks: Our Digital World and Guidelines for Microsoft Office 2010.
