Description:

The Accountant supervises the daily accounting and registration operations of the Continuing Education office. Reporting to the Dean of Continuing Education, Corporate & Public Sector Training, this position Reconciles general ledger accounts, prepares journal entries, creates detailed reports and reconciles accounts; monitors cash flow of all program expenditures and requests funds; ensures the accurate and timely processing of all student registrations; assists students with billing problems and related matters; processes student receivables and billing; enters student payment data into student master records; codes and processes system receipts and expenses; initiates and verifies transfers and totals for monthly expenses in all accounts; records daily financial transactions for balancing and reconciliation; performs cash register operation and preparation of daily bank deposits; prepares journal entries; initiates purchase orders and budget transfers; manages financial tasks and produces reports as required by grant funders; provides  timely and accurate monthly and periodic reports; pays vendors, handles telephone inquiries and resolves discrepancies; inputs and maintains payroll data; prepares and maintains account analyses; performs additional tasks or duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Required:  Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or related subject preferred.  Minimum of 1 year in accounting or related position required. Experience in student registration processes in a higher education setting preferred.  Must exhibit strong skills in communication, customer and student focus, building relationships, organization and record keeping; must be detail oriented self-starter with ability to work independently with little to no supervision and as part of a team in a collaborative manner; must have ability to exercise good judgment, as well as, ability to discreetly handle confidential information; must possess basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite; Datatel experience preferred.
