Title: Anticipated Tenure Track Faculty Openings Fall 2014 - Nursing

Description:

Teaching and learning are the central functions of Bergen Community College, and as such, its faculty plays a central role in supporting and fulfilling the College mission. The faculty has the primary responsibility for developing and carrying out effective instruction, counseling and library services.  Since its founding in 1965, the College has been proud of its mix of tradition and innovation in the process of challenging students to raise questions, examine evidence, validate opinions, make decisions and communicate ideas effectively.

 

Successful candidates must be able to teach both day and evening classes including weekends, be committed to assessing student success and learning outcomes, assessing and developing new programs/curricula, demonstrating competence in instructional technology, especially on-line instruction and willing to accept assignments at any of our three locations (Paramus, Hackensack and Lyndhurst).  All positions require excellent organizational and communication skills as well as demonstrated scholarship and professional involvement.  Candidates invited for an interview will be required to do a teaching demonstration and present a teaching portfolio.

Qualifications:

Nursing (Job Code: F-MH NUR)

Full-time tenure-track Psychiatric/Mental Health faculty position for our ACEN accredited ADN Nursing program to provide didactic and clinical teaching, student mentoring, participation in scholarly activity and involvement in department, college and community service.

 

Required: Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program, current valid New Jersey Registered  Nurse License, minimum 5 years of clinical experience in the field of Nursing, minimum 3 years teaching experience in an accredited Nursing program in the clinical setting, classroom and/or laboratory, must demonstrate experience utilizing technology and to embrace and integrate new advances such as web enhanced courses and on-line course management systems to enhance student learning objectives and program assessment outcomes and evening availability is required.  Preferred: Doctoral degree, national specialty certification in Mental Health Nursing.  The successful candidate must have computer competency, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, successful experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to excellence in teaching and clinical skills.

 

Nursing (Job Code: F-OB NUR)

Full-time tenure-track Maternal/Child/OB faculty position for our ACEN accredited ADN Nursing program to provide didactic and clinical teaching, student mentoring, participation in scholarly activity and involvement in department, college and community service.

 

Required: Master’s degree in Nursing, current valid New Jersey Registered Nurse License, minimum 3 years of hospital based clinical experience in Maternal/Child/OB Nursing specialty, minimum of 3 years full-time teaching experience in an ACEN/CCNE accredited Nursing program.  Preferred: Doctoral degree, interest and competency in using simulation.  The successful candidate must have computer competency, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, successful experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to excellence in teaching and clinical skills.
