Title: Anticipated Lecturer Position Openings - Fall 2014

Teaching and learning are the central function of Bergen Community College, and as such, its faculty plays a central role in supporting and fulfilling the College mission. The faculty has the primary responsibility for developing and carrying out effective instruction, counseling and library services.  Since its founding in 1965, the College has been proud of its mix of tradition and innovation in the process of challenging students to raise questions, examine evidence, validate opinions, make decisions and communicate ideas effectively.

Successful candidates must be able to teach both day and evening classes including weekends, be committed to assessing student success and learning outcomes, assessing and developing new programs/curricula and willing to accept assignments at any of our three locations (Paramus, Hackensack and Lyndhurst).  All positions require excellent organizational and communication skills as well as demonstrated scholarship and professional involvement. 




Listed below are our anticipated lecturer position openings for Fall 2014.

American Sign Language (ASL) (Job Code L-ASL)

Required: Master's degree in ASL, Deaf Studies, Teaching of the Deaf, or ASLTA Certification with college level teaching experience.

Business Administration (Job Code L-BUS)

Required: Master Degree in Business Administration, or related Business area.  College level teaching experience preferred. (2 positions)

Chemistry: (Job Code L-CHM)
Master's degree in Chemistry or related area; one year prior college teaching experience

Hotel Restaurant Management (Job Code L-HRM)

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel-Restaurant Management or Hospitality Administration, plus three to five years Hospitality industry experience or three to five years teaching Hospitality or Hotel-Restaurant Management at the college level (2 positions)

Mathematics: (Job Code L- MATH)
Master's degree in Mathematics, Math Education or related quantitative field; one year of prior mathematics teaching experience (4 positions)

Physics: (Job Code L-PHY)

Required:  Master's degree in Physics; one year prior teaching experience

Radiation Therapy Program: (Job Code L-RTT)

Lecturer/Clinical Coordinator: Correlates clinical education with didactic education, Evaluates students, Participates in didactic and/or clinical instruction, Supports the program director to help assure effective program operation, Coordinates clinical education and evaluates its effectiveness, Participates in the assessment process, Cooperates with the program director in periodic review and revision of clinical course materials, Maintains current knowledge of the discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development, and Maintains current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student progress.

Required: Bachelor’s degree required.   Two years full-time professional experience or the equivalent of in Radiation Therapy Technology. Registered and in compliance with ARRT credentialing requirements in Radiation Therapy.  Licensed and in compliance with NJRTBE regulations for Radiation Therapy. 



The Lecturer position is a one semester, full-time, temporary appointment with possibility of renewal.  The salary for Lecturers with a Master’s Degree is $19,307/semester and for those without a Master’s Degree is $18,776/semester.  For all Lecturer positions teaching experience is preferred unless otherwise noted.
