Under general direction, the Custodial Supervisor will supervise and coordinate work activities for all custodians on assigned shift to maintain the cleanliness and safety of College Buildings and ensure full and productive use of college facilities. This position provides oversight and direction to ensure that evening and weekend services are on par with daytime services to compliment current day supervisor and ensure consistent adherence to processes and supervision of custodial personnel. Responsibilities include but are not limited to planning, organizing, coaching, training, scheduling, inspecting work assignments, inventory control; evaluating custodial processes, cleaning procedures, equipment, cleaning products; ensuring safety protocols are adhered to; ability to perform custodial operations including event set ups, snow and ice removal, office moves, carpet cleaning, stripping and waxing of floors and all facets of cleaning processes and procedures; recommending disciplinary action; reporting any deficiencies and or needed repairs to the Buildings and Grounds Department and special projects and other duties as may be assigned.
Required: High School Diploma and 2 years of college or commensurate experience is required. Previous supervisory or management experience is required. 5 years custodial experience is preferred. Must possess knowledge of custodial operations and demonstrates understanding of the community college mission and practice an open door policy. Must possess solid knowledge of rules and regulations of PEOSHA and OSHA. Must exhibit strong skills in leadership, managing people, communication, customer and student focus, building relationships, organizing and planning. Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English; bilingual a plus. Must possess strong conflict resolution and interpersonal skills and be comfortable communicating, training and leading in a group or individual setting. Must possess the ability to adapt, navigate and respond quickly to unexpected changes in work priorities, manpower availability, emergencies, etc. Must be able to utilize current technology such as computers, tablets and phones, as well as, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Successful performance of the work requires the use of considerable independence, initiative and discretion within established guidelines. Must be able to perform all Custodial operations. This position requires the stamina and strength to stand, walk and perform physical work for 8 hours, as well as, sitting while accomplishing desk work.
