Title: Accounting Assistant (Fixed Assets)

Description:

The Accounting Assistant reconciles general and subsidiary ledgers. Fixed assets control. Manages inventory process, inputting, tagging, and reconciliation process.  Responsibilities will include but are not limited to verifying transfers and totals for monthly expenses in all accounts and preparing journal entries; performing account analysis and preparing reconciliation of general ledger to fixed asset reports; identifying  tags and inputting assets; modifying asset records to reflect items sold, discarded, lost, stolen or moved; assisting  with developing a bar code system for inventory control; preparing, reviewing and submitting  financial reports; assisting with monitoring grant compliance; assisting in developing procedures for fixed assets; working with Purchasing and College personnel; controlling/administering of contracted services with bookstore, Gourmet Dining, campus rental of facilities and others; providing general office support; ordering office supplies; performing additional tasks or duties as assigned.                                                                              

Qualifications:

Required:  Associates Degree in Business or Accounting; or a minimum of 3 years of related experience in Accounting and Fixed Assets; or a minimum of 5 years of experience as a full charge bookkeeper or staff accountant.  Must have basic to intermediate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite; Experience in Ellucian Colleague, preferred. Must be a self-starter, able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision; must exhibit strong skills in customer & student focus, building relationships, organizing and planning; must possess a strong level of interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with ability to work with diverse population.
