Public Observation of Mercury Transit of the Sun using new solar telescopes at Buehler, Wednesday, November 8, 2006, 2pm till sunset

The Buehler Columbia Amateur Astronomers Association was founded on February 8, 2003 in conjunction with the completion of the Emil Buehler Trust Observatory on the Bergen Community College main campus in Paramus, NJ.

Its name complements the already existing Buehler Challenger and Science Center, in operation on the Bergen Community College campus since 1994. Including 'Columbia' in the title is also a tribute to the brave astronauts aboard the space shuttle Columbia who perished on February 1, 2003.

The Buehler Trust Observatory is equipped with three 16" Meade LX-200 telescopes. Two are permanently mounted in twin domes atop Bergen Community College's new Technology Education Center.

The third telescope is designed for accessibility and is mounted on a mobile tripod. For more technical information on the observatories and equipment, click on the Observatory link to the left.

Public nights are held every Saturday evening. The Association meets every other Saturday evening prior to the public night session (see Calendar).  Click here if you would like to consider joining the Association.
