Bergen Community College and Columbia University Sign Scholarship Agreement
Bergen Community College entered into a Merit Scholarship Agreement with Columbia University’s School of General Studies on April 4, 2006. Under the terms of the agreement, one Bergen graduate each year will be awarded a scholarship of $12,000 if he or she attends the School of General Studies. Officially called The Bergen Community College Merit Scholarship, the award is designed to reward excellence in academic achievement while encouraging Bergen students to transfer to Columbia University. All students are eligible for consideration if they meet the eligibility criteria but priority consideration is given to students who are enrolled in the Honors Program. The award is renewable provided the student maintains a minimum GPA of 3.2 or higher and reapplies for the scholarship each year.
“Columbia University School of General Studies values our relationship with Bergen Community College, a school that continually sends us outstanding applicants and students,” said Allison Scola, the Assistant Director of Communications for the School of General Studies.
