Minutes of Meeting of October 12, 2004 (Room C-313)

BCCFA Executive Committee Officers Present: Peter Helff, President; Denise Jerman, Vice President; Alan Kaufman, Treasurer; George Cronk, Secretary

1.                  The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Kevin Sullivan at 12:30 PM.

 

2.                  The minutes of the meeting of December 2, 2003, were reviewed and approved by voice vote.

 

3.                  The election of a new Chairperson of the Representative Assembly was conducted. There were two nominations, for Laurie Hodge and for Kevin Sullivan. Balloting ensued, and Kevin Sullivan was elected.

 

4.                  The BCCFA Treasurer’s Report was postponed to the next meeting of the Assembly.

 

5.                  Alan Kaufman presented a report on the BCCFA dues structure, which is being studied by the Dues Committee. Currently, the Association's dues collection is lower than is needed to meet all expenses.

 

6.                  George Cronk presented a report on the Representation Fee ("agency shop") process. All is proceeding, but there are some close deadlines and other requirements that the BCCFA Executive Committee is making a vigorous effort to meet.

 

7.                  The role of the BCCFA in opening tenure lines was discussed. Peter Helff announced that BCC president Winn is creating a budget-review committee that will include BCCFA members. Discussion ensued.

 

8.                  The upcoming Ender Campaign Dinner on Thursday, October 21, was announced, and all were encouraged to attend and/or to contribute the to campaign in other ways.

 

9.                  Peter Helff announced NEA, NJEA, and BCEA political endorsements for the upcoming November elections.

 

10.              Phil Dolce and Amparo Codding raised issues relating to class and program scheduling. Discussion ensued.

 

11.              The meeting was adjourned at 1:25 PM.
