The General Education Committee is responsible for the oversight of the General Education Program.  The committee reviews courses submitted by faculty to be designated as “General Education,” and “certifies” these new courses based upon a thorough review of the course syllabus and student learning outcomes.

In addition, the committee monitors the work of the New Jersey Council of Community Colleges (NJCCC) General Education Committee to keep BCC courses and syllabi current with the latest state requirements.

The committee also works collaboratively with the Learning Assessment Committee and The Center for Institutional Effectiveness on matters related to assessment of the General Education Program.

Members are appointed to the committee for a two-year term by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.  Consecutive appointments may be allowed for up to six years.
