Veterinary Technology

Program Learning Outcomes

Student's will:

  • Provide professional and compassionate health care in conjunction with the veterinarian to a variety of species
  • Demonstrate knowledge in the care and handling of animals, their normal and abnormal life processes, medical and surgical nursing, anesthesiology, diagnostic imaging, and clinical laboratory procedures.
  • Communicate professionally by introducing medical terminology in to the students’ working vocabulary.
  • Demonstrate proper utilization of a variety of technological resources and equipment.
  • Demonstrate quantitative reasoning skills in veterinary technology.
  • Use critical thinking skills when problem solving.
  • Demonstrate competence in the cognitive and psychomotor skills of veterinary technology as performed by Certified or Licensed Veterinary Technicians.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency in all skills necessary to fulfill their roles a veterinary technician in compliance with federal, state, and local laws
  • Develop medical and professional sense of values.
  • Demonstrate behavior consistent with professional and employer expectations as a veterinary technician.
  • Develop a concern for public health and safety.
  • Seek activities for continued professional development and career advancement for veterinary technicians.
  • Meet all the requirements for graduation, and the Veterinary Technician National Examination
