Placement into Developmental Math

Results of the Math Basic Skills placement test will place the student into entry level Math courses:

Arithmetic Placement Scores
MAT-011-AL Basic Arithmetic
MAT-010-AL Basic Arithmetic
3 credits (one semester)
1 credit taken with MAT-011-AL (one semester)
MAT-011 Basic Arithmetic
3 credit hours (one semester)
MAT-012-CA Basic Arithmetic

(based on placement score)
MAT-035-CA Elementary Algebra
(based on placement score)
1 credit hour (seven week period)

3 credit hours (one semester)

Algebra Placement Scores
MAT-031 and MAT-032 Elementary Algebra
3 credits each (Two Semester Course)
Requires 6 credit hours of Developmental Elementary Algebra over two semesters.
MAT-035 Elementary Algebra
4 credits (One Semester Course)
Requires 4 credit hours of Developmental Elementary Algebra over one semester.


Challenging Placement in Developmental Math Program

Challenge of the placement is allowed ONE TIME and the Basic Math and Algebra should be challenged separately.One may only place out of 011, not into 012.However, one may place from 031/032 into 035.Review material is on the Office of Testing Services site and click on Accuplacer Study Guides.

College Credit

Developmental Math courses are “non-degree” credits.This means the credits do not count in the total number of credits required for graduation. In most cases, these credits do not transfer to other colleges.

GPA – Grade Point Average

Developmental Math Courses are averaged into the cumulative grade point average.
