Meadowlands Regional Accelerator at Bergen Community College

Affiliate Program

 

Innovation based early stage companies that are not yet ready to lease office space or do not need office space at this time but have business development needs are eligible to become Affiliates of the BCC Accelerator. Affiliates participate in all group programs, have access to meeting rooms, and in general become part of the Accelerator entrepreneurial community.

 

Accelerator Affiliates receive the following resources via membership:

  • Access to all group sessions of the Experts in Residence Programs (financing, marketing, leadership development, etc.)
  • Access to lunch and learns/ seminars/ CEO groups/ other events
  • Support by Accelerator staff to identify company needs and resources through the College and business community that could help meet those needs (e.g., interns, student project teams or investor assistance) and other networking opportunities
  • Participation in the entrepreneurial community designed to facilitate idea sharing and networking including some participation in Accelerator Advisory Board meetings
  • Posting of company description and web link on the Accelerator website and listed as an active member in trade press, press releases, etc. to help build awareness
  • Use of Accelerator conference rooms at no additional cost.
  • Use of the Accelerator as a business address, mailbox provided but mail not forwarded.
  • Use of working space when on site
  • Internet access
  • Use of shared business equipment while on site
  • Access to building during normal working hours

Annual Cost for Affiliates (fees are charged quarterly, in advance):

Fees for 2013 – 2014:  $100/month

                            

Affiliate Application Process

 

New Applicants are expected to go through the standard application process for residential clients including:

  • Completion of an application form
  • Submission of resumes and a business plan (summary sufficient)
  • The application will be reviewed by the Accelerator staff and the Accelerator review committee which includes the Dean of the Meadowlands BCC campus as well as the Vice President of Academic Affairs.  Turn-around time is typically 2 to 4 weeks
  • Upon approval, a needs assessment is to be completed

 

Change of Status Clients, which can include graduates interested in retaining close connections with the Accelerator or current residential clients needing to reduce their overhead.  

  • A one page request for change of status will be provided to the Accelerator Entrepreneur in Residence and reviewed by the Acceptance Committee
  • Upon approval, a new needs assessment is to be completed
