Andrew Tomko

Dr. Tomko earned his master’s degree and doctorate from the City University of New York Graduate Center. He began his teaching career at LaGuardia Community College in Queens, N.Y. and joined the Bergen faculty in 1994. He has held the positions of coordinator of the Composition and Literature discipline (1995 to 2000 and 2007 to 2008), dean of the Arts and Humanities Division (2000 to 2004), interim academic vice president (2004 to 2005), and academic department chair of the Composition and Literature Department (2008 to 2010). In addition, he briefly served as interim dean of Business, Social Sciences, and Public Service in the summer of 2009. He has served on numerous College committees including Faculty Senate (1998 to 2001 and 2004 to 2005), Curriculum Committee, as chair (2004 to 2005) and the General Education Committee (2005 to 2011, Chair, 2007 to 2008). In 2001, he also co-authored the Middle States Periodic Review Report and served on the Middle States Self-Study Steering Committee in 2004 to 2005.
