James R. Napolitano

Mr. Napolitano, of Saddle River, begins his second term on the College’s board – previously serving six years from 1998 to 2003. After retiring from a 33-year career in banking last year, Mr. Napolitano currently works as a real estate consultant. Prior to TD Bank’s acquisition of Commerce Bancorp., Mr. Napolitano served as president of Commerce Bank/North. He also worked for many years at Independence Bancorp Inc., ending his career as chief executive officer and chair of the Independence Bank board.
An active member of numerous philanthropic efforts, Mr. Napolitano serves as chair of the HackensackUMC Health Network, the parent company of Hackensack University Medical Center, and sits on the board of the hospital’s foundation. He also serves as a trustee of the Bergen County Economic Development Corporation and the Bergen County 200 Club and a member of the Bergen Community College Foundation Board of Directors. Past commendations include the Citizen of the Year award by the Hackensack and Greater Pascack Valley Chambers of Commerce, the Emily Bissell Award from the American Lung Association and the Golden Harvest Award from the March of Dimes.
Mr. Napolitano earned a B.S. from Villanova University in economics and an L.L.B. from Seton Hall Law School.
