ALP Writing (043) is a three hour course for students who are enrolled in Grammar I and Reading I. In this course, we concentrate on composing thoughts which use the grammar
structures taught in Grammar I. Student writing is a carefully guided exploration of simple and compound sentences in the simple present, present progressive, simple past and simple future
tenses. Capitalization and punctuation rules are practiced. As the course progresses, students explore using clauses and increase the number of supporting details, or minor points in their
paragraphs. Students earn a grade based on both their in-class and out-of-class writing tests (100%). Completed homework and class participation are expected.
