Curriculum Requirements:

Code: AAS.HP.DENTL Degree: AAS Program: Health Programs, Dental Hygiene * This curriculum is designed for graduates of one-year, post-secondary programs who hold current certification or licensure in an Allied Health discipline, such as dental assisting, diagnostic medical sonography, licensed practical nursing, medical office assisting, radiography, respiratory technology, and surgical technology. Certification or licensure must be recognized by the accrediting agencies of the BCC Allied Health Programs. Thirty credits for certification/licensure will be granted after completion of the degree requirements resulting in 66 credits and an ASS degree in Health Science. It is important to note that this curriculum will not confer eligibility for advanced certification nor advanced licensure within the Allied Health disciplines. Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree programs are designed to prepare students for employment in their chosen fields of endeavor. Such programs are not designed to prepare students for transfer into bachelor's degree programs in four-year colleges and universities. Career programs leading to the AAS degree are organized according to the following categories: Allied Health, Art, Business Administration, Business Technologies, Human Services, Industrial and Design Technologies, Nursing, and Science Technologies. To receive the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree, a student must earn a minimum of 64 credits and complete all courses and specific requirements listed within the student's chosen curriculum.
