Ideal Personality Profile: The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer needs to have the ability to have strong didactic and scanning ability to create a diagnostic film for interpretation. The sonographer should be able to give differential diagnosis when needed, and know what additional scanning skills need to be performed involving individual care. Knowledge of and experience in recognizing and documenting disease will be an asset in his/her career. The ability for calm and reasoned judgment regarding the patient is crucial. Respect for the patient and their privacy are expected of the sonographer.
